I grew up in Elkhart/Indiana. The stars of my youth such as Marvin Gaye, the Four Tops and the Temptations affected my style deeply.
In 1981 I moved to Southern California and founded in 1984 – together with the bass player and double Grammy Award winner Larry Fulcher the "Midnight Soul Patrol". With an eclectic mix of styles ranging from Soul, Funk and Reggae to Blues, Rock 'n' Roll and Rap they filled their audience with enthusiasm from San Diego to Las Vegas. Some members of the band also worked with such greats as Rick James, Taj Mahal, Tower of Power, Player, B.B. King and Thelma Houston.
In April 1995 I moved to Munich to start a solo career.
Starting, as a founding member with the band "Soulkitchen, I met the Weather Girls, in who's band I performed for 9 years as background singer and arranger as well as part-time lead singer.
At the same time I am also in demand as songwriter, composer, producer and arranger for many different projects. Also my sonorous speaking voice brought me numerous voiceovers for BMG.
But my great love is still the sweet soul music and the incomparable feeling of performing it live.
I founded in 2004 the "Kerry L. Dooley Band" and surrounded myself with the finest musicians from around the Munich area.
As a duo – together with the keyboarder and pianist Pem Müller – we fascinate with our sensitive and impressive interpretations.
I also work with Mel Canady and Jane Knieper, as a trio called V.I.P. singing pop, soul and gospel music.
With all my projects I have always thrived for absolute authenticity and utmost perfection and I understand, how to build a bridge to the audience and have them become part of my enjoyment and talent.
